Visitors From Near and Far

This week was good and bad for several reasons. It was a great week because the boys were blessed with visits from some of their favorite people...Boo, Gab, Aunt Sabrina, Aunt Beth, Aunt Heather. Thank you to all of you for loving the boys enough to visit. Now for the bad, mommy was sick for the latter part of the week!!

Mommy picked the boys up on Thursday afternoon and was told that half of their infant room class had the diarrhea/vomitting bug. Mommy said her prayers that her boys would be saved and the Lord answered her prayers. Unfortunately, mommy forgot to ask that she would remain healthy. Thursday night, I woke up with the bug. I will spare all of the bad details because they might make you cringe. It was bad. I could not keep fluids down, let alone solids. Poor Ben was fulltime mommy and daddy on Friday morning. He did a great job getting them both ready, out the door and to school. He didn't even complain as I ran between the toilet and barking orders on what needed to be done to the boys. No complaints that my illness made him an hour late for school. What a great daddy and saint!!! We did forget Taylor's pacifier which would have meant for one long day, but will be forever greatful to our neighbor and friend, Jenn, who drove it downtown to him.

As the day worsened, mommy feared the worse. What if daddy got sick too? Or both boys and there was a sick mommy and/or daddy? In a tearful mess, I called Boo and Gan who came to our rescue. They were at Sunset Beach for the weekend and canceled their plans to come to Charleston. Thank you, Boo and Gan! Sorry Sachiko and Dick...we know they had dinner plans with you for Friday night. They arrived around mid day with ginger ale, popsicles and their helping hands. Boo was great to help mommy do some needed chores and made no snide comments about the mess that we now call home! Weekends are our time to get the house in order, so by Friday, Tornado Slade is always present!!

The boys enjoyed their special time with daddy and Boo/Gan. Saturday was spent with mommy still weak, but keeping fluids down. Mommy was suppose to be co-hosting a baby shower for a dear friend on Saturday am. Good thing she had cooked well in advance and bought stuff the weekend before. (Aunt Sabrina picked everything up on Friday and had the pleasure to see mommy on the pump and hugging the toilet. Yep, sick or not, you have to pump the milk out!!! ) Special thanks to Aunt Beth who helped Aunt Sabrina in mommy's absence. You know mommy must have been sick for her to miss hanging out with all of her favorite girls on a beautiful, sunny day in Charleston!! Aunt Heather was in town from Atlanta and stopped by after the shower. What fun we had laughing about old times and visiting with the boys--last time she saw Mommy, the boys could only be felt over her shirt!!

I am happy to report that it is Sunday night and I am feeling somewhat better. Not 100%, but 75%. Bad thing, poor Boo had an allergic reaction to some pasta she ate last night that had garlic (she is highly allergic) and has been in bed all day. Those who know Boo, know she must be really sick to stay in bed all day!! Boo has been ordering from Mustard Seed for years and the chef makes the pasta just for her--don't know how the slip up occurred, but think they have now lost their best clients!!

Now for the photos: make note--the Boys are now 5 months old. They just had their 4 month visit with the pediatrician, but officially turned 5 months last Thursday.

Aunt Heather and Turner-- Turner would not let go on his fingers for a second. Guess he is practicing getting the grease from that South Carolina fried chicken off his fingers!!

Aunt Heather and Taylor--Taylor was loving being held, as he still has a terrible cold with chest congestion, nasal congestion and a cough. He is not even finishing his bottles! You know he must not feel well if he is leaving momma's good ole milk in the bottle! Poor Tay-Tay!!

Taylor cracks a smile as Gan holds him. Poor Gan had so much work to do at Water Street that we did not see much of him!! (Maybe that will teach them a lesson---Don't be away for so long. We miss you!!!)

Boo and Turner playing on the floor. Now, what Mr. Serious is not showing you is the ball of a time he had planning with Boo. He loves how she plays 1-2-3 (supine to stand) with him!!

And of course, the week would not be complete without a visit from the godmothers. Aunts Sabrina and Beth arrived last Wednesday and with dinner!! Here is Aunt Beth loving on Turner. He loved laughing at Beth's funny faces and playing in the mirror. Poor Taylor was not in the mood for a photograph, but enjoyed laying naked with only a diaper on Aunt Sabrina's chest!
Here's to a healthy week!! : ) Everyone, wash your hands and sanitize your homes. That bug is a killer!!
